Bitcoin is not a company, nor is it a brand. It has no official spokesperson. Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator, remains an enigma, and while prominent figures like Michael Saylor and Jack Dorsey champion the cause, Bitcoin is, at its core, a decentralized movement. But more well-known faces backing Bitcoin may help bring it into mainstream view.

That’s exactly what comedian and actor TJ Miller hopes to do. Known for his roles in Silicon Valley and Deadpool, Miller has emerged as an outspoken advocate for Bitcoin.

In the latest episode of Decentralize with Cointelegraph, he sits down with Gareth Jenkinson to share how he fell down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, why he believes in financial sovereignty and how comedy and crypto might have more in common than you think.

Bitcoin over coffee

It all started with a casual coffee run in Manhattan. While in town for Bitcoin Investor Week, Gareth Jenkinson stopped by the Romeo and Juliette café, where his “Bitcoiner radar” went off. Sitting nearby was none other than TJ Miller — who, as it turns out, was more than happy to dive into an impromptu conversation about all things Bitcoin.

Miller’s enthusiasm for Bitcoin isn’t just surface-level. He believes in its role as the future of money and wants to use his platform to educate and inspire others to take it seriously.

“You can tell that I’m passionate about it. And so that’s what I’d like to do is sort of be able… to be somebody that helps bring cultural awareness, spread awareness and just a trusting name and face in the Bitcoin community that hopefully will bring more people to it. Because it’s important for people to buy Bitcoin. But it’s also important for people to understand why and not just buy Bitcoin but why Bitcoin.”

Bitcoin’s growing list of famous supporters

Miller joins a growing list of celebrities and public figures who have embraced Bitcoin. Athletes like Tom Brady, musicians like Kanye West and even political figures such as Senator Cynthia Lummis have publicly expressed their belief in Bitcoin’s long-term value.

But while many famous Bitcoiners focus on its financial upside, Miller is more interested in shaping the culture — helping people understand Bitcoin’s philosophy, decentralization and real-world impact.

His approach could be a game-changer. Humor has always been a powerful tool for breaking down complex topics, and Bitcoin is no exception. As more high-profile advocates step forward, the cultural narrative around Bitcoin continues to evolve from a niche financial experiment into a mainstream movement.
